Nick and Audrey got together with me for an engagement photo shoot recently on one of Maui’s numerous beaches. A bit off the beaten path, we were treated to a deserted stretch of beach, and a spectacular fiery sunset.
This is the second time I’ve had the opportunity to get together for a portrait session with my little friend Nainoa. Now nearly two years old, walking, talking, and definitely in the mood for driving! Grandpa pulled the vintage TBird out for a Sunday drive to Kepaniwai Park where we were able to get some new images of Nainoa and Grandpa together.
Photographing young children can be quite a challenge, but also very rewarding if everything comes together. When Emily arranged for a family get together to celebrate her parents wedding anniversary, she wanted to surprise them with a family portrait session as a gift. It’s not often that all three families would have this opportunity together, so the beach in Wailea would be the perfect setting for their portrait. Three little girls between the ages of two and four have boundless energy. Good thing I ate my Wheaties that morning!
Wayne and Danielle were happy to honeymoon on the Valley Isle recently after their formal wedding ceremony at home in New Jersey. Kapalua Bay was the site of our portrait session, and the couple found the beach and the environment breathtaking. The snorkeling here is great and you’ll have a good opportunity to see some turtles in their natural habitat. If you’re planning a trip to Maui soon, be sure and spend some time on the beach here, you won’t be disappointed.
I recently met with Ashley and her bridesmaids for pre-wedding shots at The Marriott Hotel in Wailea. Then it was off to The Kamehameha Golf Course for the wedding ceremony and reception. Situated about mid way up the West Maui Mountains, the view from this elevation is simply spectacular. I arrived at the golf club and met Deven and his groomsmen, who were all looking quite dapper in their tuxedos and fresh flower boutonnieres. Approximately one hundred guests enjoyed a beautiful late afternoon ceremony overlooking the North and South shores of Maui. A nice breeze kept everybody cool, and then it was off to the reception immediately following the ceremony.
Location 1.Nikki and Chad had quite the wedding party. I met with them the day before the ceremony during a casual evening with close friends and family on the beach in Kihei. It was really nice to meet with the wedding couple and all of their friends prior to the ceremony. Location 2.The wedding ceremony took place in Kaanapali the next afternoon under beautiful sunny skies. Nikki and Chad were clearly in love, and everyone was touched by their vows. Location 3. Off to Baby Beach for bridal party fun, and a beautiful Maui sunset.
When Tomoko first called and said she would be assisting her brother Hirofumi with all of his wedding arrangements from her home in San Francisco, I didn’t give it a second thought. She was also going to serve as an interpreter for the wedding couple. The bride and groom would be traveling to Maui from their home in Japan! As it turns out, despite the language barrier, it was fairly easy to communicate with the bride and groom with Tomoko’s patience and help. The wedding couple met me at historic Keawalai Church in Makena for the late afternoon ceremony, followed by sunset pictures on the adjoining Wailea beach.
South Maluaka Beach near The Makena Resort was the site Cindy and Jerry chose for their Maui wedding vows last weekend. The couple enjoyed a very intimate ceremony conducted by Reverand Kimo Kirkman. Shelly with Island Sunset Weddings helped the couple with all the details, and did a wonderful job as always making sure the wedding couple were able to enjoy their very special day without any stress.
The Makena Beach House was the scene for Tharsilla and Donald’s Maui wedding ceremony. As always, White Orchid Wedding did a wonderful job making sure all the details were just perfect for the wedding couple.
